2) Scroll to the top of the page and click on "Select an audio source". Scroll down the list and when the selection you want is in the linkbox, click on it (Enter), then click Play.
3) The music should follow you through the links of that website. To go to another website, scroll back to the top of the page and click SURF AGAIN, and the box to put in the address will reappear. Do NOT use the go to button or you will leave the surfNsound.
4) The surfNsound will NOT work on WebTV pages such as Home, Mail, newsgroups or chat (unless the chat is one of the custom jobs on someone's personal homepage). Full instructions below.
The surfNsound lets you choose a music source and carry it
around with you as you surf webpages. Since it involves JavaScript and frames,
it won't work while you read e-mail or newsgroups. To use the surfNsound, Simply
pull up the surfNsound screen and put the URL of your choice in the box (this is
CGI, so you must put the entire address including the www and .com, etc.). Do
this BEFORE picking your audio sound. Once the page has been pulled up, the
surfNsound menu will remain at the top of the page. Make your audio selection
from the jumpbox, click on it, then click Play and the sound will follow you
through any links you follow from that point. If you want to use your own music
source to surf, hit your regular Go To button and enter in the address of the
sound source. If you do this while you are on the surfNsound page, the sound
will follow you through whatever sites you enter into the box on the surfNsound.
If you want to continue listening to the music but go to a completely different
website, scroll to the top and hit SURF AGAIN and enter
the new page into the box which will reappear. If there is audio on the new page
and it overrides the audio you have selected, make your selection again from the
jumpbox. Once you have the audio set, you should be able to surf an entire
website and take it with you even through that pages links. The control bar will
always be at the top of the page you are on. To break out of the surfNsound,
either hit Go To, Show Last, then Enter on any page you may be on OR go to
another page from the Go To button. If you are listening to a .ram source, such
as the live radio stations, it will speed up going to a new page if you pause it
when you enter the address of the new page. To pause a selection, hit the
options key and click the button on the top (on the right) with the 2 rectangles
on it. Click options again to lower the options bar. Go back to the top of the
page and enter in the new address. At that point, either pick a new audio source
or to resume the one you were listening to, hit options and click the button in
the middle with a triangle on it.
This works flawlessly if you are using a a midi as your own source, but radio
stations have given me mixed results because of the inherent problems with
RealAudio 3.0, but what the hey, it's kinda neat. Enjoy!
Note: if you go to a page and the surfNsound box
disappears at the top, it is most likely because the page has coding designed to
automatically break you out of frames.
